Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh combined together to give Kolkata Knight Riders its first win in six matches as they chased down 153 to defeat the Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets. The duo put on a stand of unbeaten 66 runs in just 38 balls to guide their team home.

 

The chase by the Kolkata side did not start on an ideal note as they lost both the openers in the Powerplay and scored only 32 runs. But slowly and steadily Nitish alongside skipper Shreyas Iyer built a partnership and brought the Knights into the game before Iyer was out to Boult through a soft dismissal. 

 

Rinku, who joined Rana, then attacked from the word go and was lucky with a few shots and many wide calls that went in his favour and frustrated the Rajasthan bowlers. He scored an amazing 42* off just 23 balls while Nitish Rana remained unbeaten on 48 off 37. 

 

Earlier in the day, Rajasthan and its skipper Sanju Samson could not utilise his form as after scoring a 38 ball fifty, he could score only four more of the next 11 balls and slowed the innings a lot. But thanks to Shimron Hetmyer's 13 ball 28, Rajasthan managed to get to a fighting total of 152/5 in their 20 overs.
