Though Arshdeep Singh bowled brilliantly and so did Kagiso Rabada, Ambati Rayudu batted well too, but it was always going to be Shikhar Dhawan who would be Player of the Match if Punjab won and he was given that award post his team's victory. Dhawan scored 88 off just 59 balls and hit nine fours and two sixes in that knock which was instrumental to get Punjab to 187-4 in their 20 overs.

Rishi Dhawan held his nerves to defend 27 in the last over against the likes of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja to win the game by 11 runs for Punjab Kings vs Chennai Super Kings. 

 

It was Amabati Rayudu with his brilliant 78 off just 39 balls that was able to get CSK in the game and when MS Dhoni hit six off the first ball of the last over when 27 were needed to win, it seemed like he was going to repeat his heroics against Mumbai Indians in the last game, but it wasn't to be as he got out on a ball that he would have probably hit to the Juhu beach, on another day. 

 

Earlier in the evening, after being asked to bat first, Punjab Kings, courtesy of a brilliant 88* from Shikhar Dhawan, managed to get to 187/4 in their 20 overs. Bhanuka Rajapaksa (42) and Liam Livingstone (19 off 7 balls) also made useful contributions with the bat.
