The Apple store usually goes down when there is a new product or product line awaiting announcement. Apple is likely to unveil its M2 chip today, which would debut with the MacBook Air 2022 model.

What not to expect from WWDC22: Apple's mixed-reality headset

Apple is rumoured to be working on a mixed reality headset, which was expected to be unveiled at the WWDC22 but got postponed due to several reasons. In a series of tweets, Apple's analyst Ming-Chi Kuo mentioned that he expects the tech giant to launch the headset in 2023.

 

"It still takes some time before the Apple AR/MR headset enters mass production, so I do not think Apple will release the AR/MR headset and rumoured realityOS at WWDC this year. Apple's competitors worldwide cannot wait to see the hardware spec and OS design for Apple's AR/MR headset," Kuo wrote on the micro-blogging platform.

 

"I am sure that if Apple announces AR/MR headset and its OS at WWDC, competitors will immediately kick off copycat projects and happily copy Apple's excellent ideas, and hit the store shelves before Apple launches in 2023," Kuo added.

What is Apple WWDC

The Apple Worldwide Developer Conference, or WWDC, is an annual event held every June at Apple's campus in the US. At the event's keynote address, the American technology giant details updates coming with its next iteration of operating systems, and the developer tools that make apps. In 2020, Apple hosted the event in online-only format due to the coronavirus pandemic. Since, the company has shifted to a digital-only format, which enables more developers to participate in sessions. This year, the WWDC keynote address is an online-only event, though a select number of developers have been invited to the Apple Park campus in the US for a viewing event.
