Fujitsu Consulting, the consulting and services arm of the $43.2-billion Fujitsu Group, is looking at setting up new development centres in tier II cities in Maharashtra or eastern India.
Currently the company has its largest development centre in Noida with 700 people and a 150-people development centre in Hyderabad.
Speaking on the sidelines of IT symposium organised by IIFT in Kolkata, Jitendra Tanna, vice-president of Fujitsu Consulting, told Business Standard, “We are looking at new development centres in tier II cities in Maharashtra or eastern India. We are also investing $12 million in setting up new buildings for expanding manpower strength of our development centre in Pune. Currently our Pune unit has over 1,000 people and we are investing in a new building there to accommodate 1500 more employees in the first phase. The new facility is expected to be up and running by March 2009.”
The company aims to add a total of 4500 more employees, who would either be placed at the new development centres that the company intends to set up at Maharashtra or eastern India, or at its existing Pune centre.
Fujitsu will also add employees at its Noida development centre to take the total headcount to 1200 from 700 right now.
The company also plans to get into new lines of consulting services.
“We will add remote infrastructure management to our current offerings, which includes consulting services for system and server administration, user ID and login, for client companies,” Tanna informed.
The company will also get into consulting for software-as-a-service business where clients pay per use.
All these initiatives are expected to fetch Fujitsu Consulting a revenue growth of 50 per cent year on year till 2010, after which it would chalk out fresh strategies for the way forward.
