Google today launched its Nexus 4 smartphone with LG in India. The high-end smartphone, powered by a quad-core processor, is priced at Rs 25,999.

The hardware has been designed by LG and comes with wireless charging facility. The phone will support 2G and 3G network.

The Nexus 4 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor running at 1.5 GHz. It has 2GB of RAM and runs the latest version of the Android operating system, Jelly Bean. The phone will have 16 GB internal memory, which cannot be expanded. The battery, too, cannot be removed by the user.

As the Nexus 4 is a Google co-branded device, it comes with the latest apps from the search giant. Also included is Google Now, the search giant’s personal assistant application. The Nexus 4 also has the latest version of  Google Maps for Android.

The phone also has near field communication (NFC) technology in-built, which can be used for transferring data or making payments just by touching.  NFC technology is used in smartcards provided by the Delhi Metro Rail, electronic tags on objects in shopping malls to check theft and for deduction of toll charges at certain toll gates.

The Nexus 4 has an 8 megapixel primary camera with an LED flash. The camera is capable of  taking images under an application called Photo Sphere, which stitches together images captured in every direction.

The phone has a 4.7-inch True HD IPS display with a resolution of 1280 by 768 at 320ppi. The screen is protected by scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 2.

“LG Electronics is pleased to partner Google on the release of the Nexus 4 in India,” LG Electronics India Managing Director Soon Kwon said. LG said the phone will be available across select stores in Delhi, Mumbai, Thane, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad and Ahmedabad.
