Kids Math Count Numbers Game: A half-baked attempt

Children have always amazed elders with the ease with which they work on smartphones even before they learn how to read or count. And, learning while playing is the most effective teaching tool these days. The new Kids Math Count Numbers Game, launched by Chifro Studios, attempts to combine these two aspects.

The app, available both on Android and iOS platforms, could be downloaded free from the Google Play Store. It is meant to teach kids the concept of counting with the ease of playing a game.

The app, which comes in handy for children from kindergarten to those in grade two, covers six basic maths activities, including learning how to count, writing numbers, identifying greater and smaller numbers and finding missing numbers, among others.

Without doubt, one can say that this app is going to capture the attention of tiny tots with its interactive animation features. The game opens on your phone only in landscape mode, and it is impressive with the easy-to-manage properties.

However, one major drawback of the game is in the 'writing numbers' section. As one tries to write over the given pattern, one has to try two-three times before succeeding in getting the perfect shape of the number.

Also, in the section where children are taught to spell each number from one to 10, instead of opening the alphabets in the order of the correct spelling, one can open the series in any order, that is, even from right to left instead of left to right. This can easily confuse kids.

Moreover, the learning experience ends with number 10. Since the app is aimed at children up to grade two, one would have preferred a count of up to 100 at least. Another drawback is that the ads keep interrupting while one is on the app.

In short, the app could be a disappointment for children above five years.
