Kochi Infopark has invited request for proposals (RFP) from companies of international repute for the co-development of its second phase. The master plan of the project, which was developed by Canon Designs of USA, envisages a green township on the banks of Kadamprayar river.

“We are looking at co-developers with experience in IT infrastructure development, real estate developers and IT companies with large employee presence for developing IT/BPO complexes in the 97 acres of SEZ area in the second phase of Infopark," said Infopark CEO Gigo Joseph.

Developers also have the option of constructing hotels, convention centre, sports club and other recreational facilities in the additional 25 acres of non-SEZ area.

The work on the development of the second phase of Infopark is moving at a fast pace. East Cost Constructions & Industries Limited has been awarded the contract to build the first IT building.

The work of basic infrastructure facilities such as substation, power distribution, internal road system, water intake, treatment and storage, data& communication connectivity, land development, compound wall, guest house, common food courts, etc has already begun.

The second phase of Infopark Kochi is being developed at the Kunnathunadu and Puthencuruz village. The total area is designed for SEZ, commercial and non-SEZ type of development. The domestic park in this new phase is aimed at creating cost effective infrastructure for the IT/BPO industry. It will have facilities including shopping arcades, town centre plaza, convention centre, women’s hostel, guest house, facilities for rest and recreation and boat club.

On completion, the park is expected to provide employment to up to 80,000-90,000 professionals. The government of Kerala has allocated Rs 50 crore towards infrastructure development schemes for the phase II.

Infopark is currently home to over 15,000 IT professionals working in companies like OPI Global, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services, ACS, US Technologies, IBS, Arbitron and Zerone Consulting.

The spokes of Kochi Infopark at Koratty, Cherthala and Ambalapuzha were inaugurated along with ramp up of co-developer projects including L&T, Leela group and Brigade.
