The National Institute of Technology- Warangal (NIT-W), which is celebrating its golden jubilee year, has announced that it would add three more new centres of excellence. The three centres are expected to add infrastructural and academic strength to the institute.

Making the announcement during the inaugural of the NIT-W alumni meet on Friday, institute's director, Y Venkateswara Rao, said the new centers would bolster research activities at the institute on a bigger scale.  The objective of these new processes was to build a talent pool of research and development based human resource in the country.

He said that the institute would also introduce interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary research work in the form "team, theme and target". These three centres would catalyse to bring more and more R&D projects and make a quantum jump in the research output. The institute would have collaborative research with national and international labs and industries, Rao added.
