Nokia Siemens Networks said it was unable to specify the number of employees in India who would be affected by the job cuts. In response to a query by Business Standard, the company said it was still in the planning and consultation phase.

“We have announced the new strategy and further planning and consultation will now commence. At present, we cannot give a breakdown of the headcount reduction by geography,” the company said. Company sources said the telecom equipment maker would soon begin engaging with employee representatives in India, according to the country specific legal requirements.
