A massive fire broke out at a factory in Delhi's Bawana industrial area early Saturday, triggering an explosion that caused the building to collapse, officials said. "Seventeen fire tenders were rushed to the spot in Sector 2 after a call was received at 4.48 am," Delhi Fire Services chief Atul Garg said. The fire triggered an explosion inside the premises, due to which the building collapsed, officials said. No injuries have been reported so far, they added. Firemen are working to extinguish the flames.
Three major fire incidents took place at different parts of the city, the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) officials said on Friday. No information regarding any injury was reported till late evening, the officials said. "A big fire broke out in a factory in Kirti Nagar area of west Delhi. We received call regarding the fire at 3.37 pm from the Kirti Nagar industrial area. A total of 25 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. No injuries was reported," DFS chief Atul Garg said. Garg said that another similar incident was reported at a factory in the Bawana industrial area in outer Delhi and 15 fire tenders were pressed into service. "No injuries was reported from the Bawana area. We had received a call at 5.05 pm," the DFS chief said. He said another blaze broke out at a banquet hall near Kalkaji Metro Station in south Delhi. "We rescued three people safely from the roof of second floor of the banquet hall. We had received a call regarding this fire at 6.56 pm," Garg said.
Five firemen were injured following a blast at a plastic factory in north west Delhi's Bawana, officials said on Thursday. According to fire officials, the incident took place on Wednesday at 10.56 pm, and 30 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The factory is situated at Sector-5 in Bawana Industrial Area. A blast occurred in the factory due to which the wall and gate collapsed, and five firemen sustained injuries, they said. "Dharamveer, Ajeet, Narender, Jaiveer and Vikas sustained injuries in the incident. They were rushed to Maharshi Valmiki Hospital and later discharged," an official said.
