CPI (Maoist) commander killed in encounter with forces in Jharkhand

A commander of the banned CPI (Maoist) was killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jharkhand's Palamu district, a senior police official said on Tuesday. Another red rebel, who is carrying a bounty of Rs 15 lakh, is said to have been injured in the encounter, he said. Several weapons, including a self-loading rifle, were recovered during the search operation after the gunfight, police said. The encounter between security forces and Maoists broke out near Sitachuan area between Mohammadganj and Hydernagar police station limits late on Monday, police said. CPI (Maoist) with Rs 5 lakh bounty killed in gunfight in Jharkhand

A member of the banned CPI (Maoist), who was carrying a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on his head, was killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jharkhand's Latehar district on Monday, a senior police official said. Another red rebel was also arrested during the operation, he said. The encounter between security forces and Maoists broke out in a forest in Dauna under the Mauhadand Police Station limits on Sunday night, he said. "Manish Yadav, who was carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head, was killed in the gunfight with security forces. Another Maoist Kundan Kherwar was arrested," Palamu DIG YS Ramesh told PTI. Four maoists gunned down in encounter on Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border

In a joint operation, police's special commando unit C-60 and the CRPF killed four Maoists in an encounter along the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border in Gadchiroli district on Friday, a senior official said. The official, in a statement, informed that based on credible intelligence inputs about the presence of Maoists formations on the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border near a recently opened FOB (Forward Operating Base) in Kawande area, an operation was launched on Thursday afternoon. A dozen C-60 parties (300 commandoes) and a component of the CRPF launched the operation from Kawande and Nelgunda areas towards the banks of the Indravati river amidst heavy rains, it said. Jharkhand police on Friday said 397 Maoists were arrested, nine killed, and 26 surrendered before security forces across the state this year.
