About Narhari Zirwal

Narhari Zirwal

Narhari Zirwal is the Deputy Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly. Narhari Zirwal will contest the polls from Dindori assembly seat. Key tribal leader and 3-time MLA from the seat, Zirwal started his political innings in the 1980s from his home turf in Nashik as an activist of the Janata Dal. Won Dindori for the first time in 2004 but lost in 2009 by a margin of 149 votes to Shiv Sena rival. Notably, when Ajit Pawar had attempted a failed coup against the NCP in 2019, Zirwal was among the leaders to have accompanied Ajit Pawar to extend support to Devendra Fadnavis. At a secret early morning swearing-in ceremony, Ajit was sworn-in as Fadnavis’ deputy but the government lasted only about 80 hours. Most MLAs refused to side with the rebel faction. Zirwal also later rejoined the Sharad Pawar-led NCP camp. Ajit returned to the party one-year-later.
