Automotive component maker Tata AutoComp Systems on Thursday said it has formed a strategic joint venture with Mexico- headquartered Katcon Global to manufacture advanced composites for the North American market.
Tata AutoComp, in a statement, said the venture will specialise in lightweight applications for passenger and commercial vehicles, agricultural tractors, off-road vehicles, and specialised non-automotive segments.
A global supplier to the automotive industry, Katcon Global specialises in exhaust systems, thermal insulation and advanced materials components. The company operates with 11 manufacturing facilities and five technology centres spread across eight countries.
The two companies already have an over-decade-long collaboration for exhaust systems and emission after-treatment solutions.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday sought the NIA's stand on a bail plea by Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid in a terror funding case.
A bench of Justices Subramonium Prasad and Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar issued notice on the parliamentarian's appeal against a trial court order which refused to grant him bail on March 21.
The bench also asked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to respond to a separate plea by Rashid challenging the framing of charges in the case.
It clarified that the NIA's reply shall be filed only with respect to the question of a delay of around 1,100 days in mounting the challenge against the charges.
The court listed both cases for hearing on July 29.
Rashid has been lodged in Tihar jail since 2019 after he was arrested by the NIA under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in the 2017 terror funding case.

The Rajya Sabha on Thursday returned the Finance Bill 2025 to the Lok Sabha, along with 35 government amendments, including one that abolishes a 6 per cent digital tax on online advertisements, thus completing the 2025-26 budgetary exercise that started on February 1.

Replying to the debate later in the evening, she said the tendency of the finance ministry would be to exercise caution and not let go of revenues.
"But, here we wanted to use this opportunity to show our respect for Indian taxpayer. We have moved towards setting Rs 12 lakh as threshold up to which no one will have to pay any tax," Sitharaman said.
