Adani Power today said it expects to increase its capacity to 5,500 MW from present 3,300 MW by March next year.
"We are working at 3,300 MW. By March. We will have close to 5,500 MW and our plan is that by March 2013 we should have 10,000 MW," Adani Power CEO Ravi Sharma told reporters on the sidelines of India Energy Summit organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce.
However, the company did not elaborate on its capacity expansion plans.
When asked whether the commissioning of new plants was being impacted due to coal shortage, he said, "Not yet, but if the situation does not improve it will."
Talking about coal linkages, Sharma said, "We have applied for linkages. Some of the linkages have been approved, some have been pending.
Earlier, the power producer had said that it expects to have operational capacity of about 6,000 MW this fiscal, out of the planned 16,500 MW capacity under development.
"Indonesian coal reference price and a domestic fuel shortage hurting linkage plans are some major issues for the company as well as for the industry, but we are confident to maintain our growth pace," Adani Power CFO Prabal Banerji had said.
