| AIEMA comprises 2,000 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) with over two lakh employees of which 30 per cent are women. The association has an estimated turnover of Rs 2,000 crore and the exports contribution of Rs 500 crore, he said. |
| Inaugurating the ACMEE 2004, Stuti Kacker, joint secretary of Ministry of Small Scale Industries, said: "New schemes, specifically designed for small scale industries (SSIs) to participate in the international exhibition, have been introduced to tap the international market. The ministry is also encouraging the SSIs to take Indian delegations abroad." |
| SSIs need to cooperate with each other and become competitive so as to explore the global opportunities. The industries, on the other hand, should not undercut each other on product pricing, she added. |
| L Leela Krishna, chairman of ACMEE 2004, said: "The foreign delegations which are participating in the exhibition plan 18 to 24 months ahead and therefore we have decided to organise the next industrial exhibition from August 8 to 12 in 2006. The objective is to provide an opportunity for Indian entrepreneurs to enter the marketing export tie-ups with foreign companies." |
