Kolkata-based consultant M N Dastur and Company, which was roped in by the Orissa government to conduct a benchmarking study for land and water requirement for mega steel projects in the state, would submit its report within a month.
The report will make a fair and realistic assessment of land and water requirement of the steel players who aim to set up steel plants with a capacity of beyond six million tonne per annum (mtpa) or raise capacity of their proposed projects beyond six mtpa.
"M N Dastur and Company is carrying on the benchmarking study land and water requirement for mega steel projects proposed in the state and it will submit the report within a month. The report will help us to make a realistic assessment of land requirement for the mega steel plants including the office building and staff quarters. Moreover, the right water requirement for such projects will enable us to achieve optimum utilization of water in the state”, C J Venugopal, chairman and managing director of Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation of Orissa Ltd (Ipicol) told Business Standard. The decision to appoint a consultant for conducting the said study was taken at a high-level meeting of the state task force held in September this year.
