State-run Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) today said it is hoping to bag orders worth Rs 10,000 crore next month for supplying power equipment.
"We are expecting fresh orders worth Rs 10,000 crore by October this year," BHEL Chairman and Managing Director K Ravi Kumar told reporters.
"The order would be placed mainly by private players and also NTPC Ltd", he said adding that Monnet Ispat, Jindal Power & Steel and Adhunik Power are likely to place orders.
When asked about the current order book position of the company, Kumar replied, "It currently stands at Rs 1,32,000 crore."
The power equipment maker plans to commission over 4,000 Mw capacity by September 2010 for the Commonwealth Games. Out of the 4,000-Mw, it would commission two units of 500 Mw each at Dadri Power plant and two units of 500 Mw at Mejia plant in West Bengal.
BHEL recently secured a Rs 990 crore order from the Indian Railways for supply of electric locomotives. The company will supply 150 electric locomotives to the Indian Railways.
