This is the first time that the state is organising such a large investors' meet. The companies which signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with the state government include Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, ITC Ltd, DLF Universal, Fortis Healthcare, Infosys, Hinduja Group, Adlabds, Trident Group, Nahar Group, International Tractors Ltd, Khanna Paper Mills Ltd and others.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal asked Deputy Chief Minister and his son Sukhbir Singh Badal to closely follow up the agreements so that they would not remain only in papers. He asked the industrialists to contribute significantly to philanthropic causes under the corporate social responsibility.
Bharti Airtel will launch its high speed 4G LTE services in the state. The company said it would invest more than Rs 4,000 crore over the next five years to expand the services.
