Dhamra Port Company Limited (DPCL), a 50:50 joint venture between Tata Steel and L&T, on Friday entered into a sister port relationship agreement with the US-based Port of Seattle.
The pact is aimed at exchange of information on port users, technology transfer and sharing of best practices between the two ports.
"We are the first Indian port to have entered into a sister port relationship agreement with the Port of Seattle. The pact's objective is to exchange information on port users, transfer of technology and sharing of best practices in port operations between the two ports. Besides trade delegations from India will visit Port of Seattle and that of US will be visiting Dhamara port and this will give a boost to the trade ties between the two countries”, said Santosh K Mohapatra, chief executive officer, DPCL.
The pact was signed between Mohapatra and Tey Yoshitami, chief executive officer of the Port of Seattle.
The signing of the sister port relationship agreement between the two ports follows the visit of the high-profile delegation of the Washington State India Trade Relations Action Committee (WASITRAC) to Orissa.
The delegation had called on the Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and the state Chief Secretary B K Patnaik on Thursday.
