DPSC Ltd, one of the oldest power utility companies in India, has posted a marginal 0.37 drop in net profit for the third quarter of the financial year ended on December 31 to Rs 2.71 crore, as compared to Rs 2.72 crore for the same period previous financial year.
Meanwhile, the net sales for the period zoomed 24 per cent to Rs125.71 crore during the third quarter of the financial year 2011-12, as against Rs 101.4 crore during the same period in 2010-11. Jyotirmay Bhaumik, chief executive officer of DPSC said, “Our capital projects are in full swing and we are now in the process of commissioning our 12 mega watt thermal power plant in Dishergarh and we will continue to consolidate our operations and assets and create benchmarks in operations.”
The firm, formerly known as Dishergarh Power Supply Company Ltd was incorporated in the year 1919 in the state of West Bengal.
The company was set up primarily to supply power to the Bengal Coal Company Ltd., then the largest producer of coal in Asia.
In the T&D space, the company has a license for supply of electricity in and around Asansol-Ranigunj area spread over 700 square kilo metre, with a combined distribution capacity of 231 MVA.
