Chand came into the limelight last year after taking his side to victory at the under nineteen cricket world cup. Hailing from a medium-class family in Delhi, Chand is also admired for continuing his undergraduate studies at the city's prestigious St Stephen's College despite a hectic playing schedule.
He moved the Delhi High Court last year when he was not allowed to sit for his first-year exams following poor attendance at college. He was subsequently permitted to take his exams after the Delhi High Court passed an order to the effect.
The new commercial featuring Chand will be the second phase of Pepsi's Oh Yes Abhi advertising campaign that was launched a month ago. The campaign dwells on the tendency of youth to want things now, which is epitomised in the tagline. JWT is the agency that conceptualised and executed the campaign.
