Fabric maker OCM to expand retail footprint

Fabric manufacturer OCM India is strengthening its retail footprint in the country as part of its strategy to be among the top two worsted textile company in the next 2-3 years.

While, OCM is present in about 1,100 customer touch points, it is expanding its number of retail stores.

“At present, we have four retail stores in Amritsar, Kota, Ajmer and Allahabad. We are in the process of increasing this number to 12 in places such as Kanpur, Bangalore and the North East,” company’s chief marketing and sales officer Nitin Jain told Business Standard .

The annual fabric production at OCM is projected at 6.2 million metres by March 2012 and by 2014, it is planned to touch 8 million metres.

“We have been growing at 33 per cent with good growth coming from tier II and III towns,” he said. Jain said the consolidated organised textiles market (both worsted and poly viscose fabric) in India was about Rs 20,000 crore and growing by average 9 per cent, which also included exports.

“Our focus is on young adults between the age group of 24 to 35 years,” he added. Uttar Pradesh is among the top 5 markets for the company.
