Carmaker General Motors India saw its sales climbing by 60.99 per cent to 8,225 units in May this year, compared to 5,109 units in the same month last year.
The increase in sales was primarily driven by a good response to its small cars Spark and Beat and sedan Cruze, General Motors India said in a statement.
The company sold 2,812 units of the hatchback Spark, 854 units of the sedan Cruze and 2,296 units of the latest compact car, Beat, in the reporting month, it added.
It also sold 312 units of premium hatchback Aveo U-Va, 396 units of the entry-level sedan Aveo, 53 units of the mid-sized sedan Optra, 1,418 units of the multi-utility vehicle Tavera and 84 units of the SUV Captiva.
