FMCG major Hindustan Unilever today said that it has undertaken price cut of up to 20 per cent and increased grammage of its soap brand Lifebuoy and detergent brand Wheel.
The company has reduced the price of its 200 gm Wheel Active Blue detergent cake by 20 per cent to Rs 8 from Rs 10, HUL said in response to an email query.
It also said that the grammage of the 115 gm Lifebuoy toilet soap has been increased to 120 gm without changing the existing price rate of Rs 15, besides increasing the grammage of the 275 gm and 560 gm Wheel Green detergent powder to 300 gm and 600 gm, respectively, while maintaining the existing price structure.
"These changes were effected last month (March) in the market," an HUL spokesperson said.
The company, however, refused to say anything regarding the reasons for undertaking the price cuts or if such actions are likely to be repeated in the near future.
