This follows Thursday's announcement by its Japanese parent company to recall nearly five million vehicles for this reason.
This is the third recall by the Indian subsidiary in less than a year. With Friday's announcement, the total number of voluntary recalls in India has crossed 800,000 units since July 2012, when the automobile industry association announced a policy on this for members.
