Indonesian Ambassador in India Lt General (Retd) Andi M Ghalib told reporters here that his country was interested in setting up joint industrial projects in Jharkhand.

The Indonesian ambassador arrived in the state capital on Tuesday on a three-day visit. He held discussion with the representatives of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) to identify the sectors where Indonesia could explore its venture.

The ambassador said that Indonesia government had signed 32 MoUs during January this year for bilateral trade of 25 million US dollars by 2015. He came to Ranchi to explore possibilities of cooperation in diverse fields in order to achieve the targets incorporated in the MoUs.

The ambassador during his three-day visit will go round the plants of the public sector Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC), Ranchi and discuss with its chairman G K Pillai to explore possibilities of a joint collaboration in heavy industries.

Ghalib said that Jharkhand had been endowed with natural resources which could be exploited by joining hands with local leaders and willing partners in heavy industries, coal mining, power plants and also tapping the vast tourism potential of the state.
