KEC Int'l secures order worth Rs 340 cr

KEC International, a billion dollar global infrastructure EPC major, has secured an order worth Rs 340 crore for the construction of 765 kV and 400 kV transmission lines in Maharashtra and Gujarat. In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange the company said that the order has been secured from Bhopal Dhule Transmission Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sterlite Technologies.

The project consists of 765 kV single-circuit transmission line from Aurangabad to Dhule, 765 kV single-circuit transmission line from Dhule to Vadodara and 400 kV double-circuit transmission line within Dhule, the filing said.

The release added that these lines are part of build-own-operate-maintain (BOOM) project awarded by Power Finance Corporation to Sterlite Technologies for transmission system strengthening in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Mr. Ramesh Chandak, MD & CEO of KEC International said in the filing, "We are happy to secure this large value order from a private sector client. There are increasing number of projects being set up on the BOO/BOOM basis and the company would continue to explore possibilities of securing EPC portion of those projects."

Shares of KEC International were trading at Rs 50.75 in the morning hours, up 3.36% from the previous day's close.
