Being dangerous for health, tobacco in many forms has been banned by various state governments and hence, mouth refresher has emerged as a substitute to these products. Since, chewing tobacco is a habit difficult to exit, its substitute has started gaining momentum.
Made of herbal product, the mouth refresher named as Zatka Herbal offers a similar taste and the accompanying psychological effects as gutkha and pan masala. This product is free of tobacco leaves, tar, lime, catechu, magnesium carbonate and liquid paraffin.
“The Rs 95,000 crore mouth freshener industry in India is growing by 18% annually,” said Harshad Sanghrajka, Managing Director of VHPL.
Of this, branded products contribute a mere Rs 150 crore market share. There are an estimated 120 crore consumers consuming around 1200 crore sachets per annum.
