L & T In Pact To Set Up Conveyor For Lafarge

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) today signed a contract with Lafarge Surma Cement (LSC), Bangladesh, to construct a cross-national belt conveyor.
Valued at around Rs 115 crore, the belt conveyor will be 17 km long and will convey limestone and shale from the mines in hilly terrain of Shella Bazar at Meghalaya to the marshy plains of Chhatak at Bangladesh where French firm Lafarge is putting up a cement plant.
The project, bagged by the construction division of L&T, is to be executed in 24 months, according to a L&T press release.
A Ramakrishna, president (operations) and deputy managing director, L&T said,
