On Tuesday, the company's president and chief executive (automotive) Pravin Shah met chief minister Harish Rawat at Bijapur guest house here. During the meeting, Shah told the CM that Bolero is attracting 30 per cent excise duty despite not being a luxury vehicle.
Shah said the CM should take up the matter of 30 per cent additional excise duty with the Centre.
The Chief Minister assured Shah that he would discuss the matter with the central leaders in this regard, top government officials said.
The Chief Minister also said that Uttarakhand was offering a slew of sops for new manufacturing units in the state. He also said that the power tariffs in the hill state were much lower than other states. "Uttarakhand is the best destination for new manufacturing units," said Rawat.
