RattanIndia Power commissions third 270-MW unit of Amravati power plant

The remaining two units comprising 540 MW are expected to be commissioned by the end of March

The third unit of 1,350 MW Amravati thermal power plant being developed by RattanIndia Power was commissioned Wednesday. Phase-I development of the power plant comprises five units of 270 MW each with a total capacity of 1,350 MW. With the commissioning of the third unit of 270 MW, the total commissioned capacity now stands at 810 MW.

The remaining two units comprising 540 MW are expected to be commissioned by the end of March this year. The plant currently supplies electricity to Maharashtra energy utility MSEDCL through its two previously commissioned units.

"With this milestone we are well on our path to achieve commissioning of entire 1,350 MW Phase 1 project at Amravati by the end of current financial year and commissioning of entire 1,350 MW Phase 1 project at Nashik by the end of the calendar year" RattanIndia Power chairman Rajiv Rattan said.

The company is currently developing a total of 5,400 MW coal-based thermal power projects comprising two 2,700 MW power plants located at Amravati and Nashik in Maharashtra.
