Reliance Power Q4 net jumps three-fold on lower tax expense at Rs 216 cr

Anil Ambani-promoted Reliance Power Ltd posted more than a three-fold increase in March quarter consolidated profit at Rs 216 crore, helped by a 40% fall in tax expenses during the period.

The company posted net profit of Rs 61.55 crore in the same period a year back.

The company's total income rose 6% to Rs 2,696.50 crore, from Rs 2,548.94 crore. In the same period, the company total expenses fell 3% to Rs 2,311.1 crore from Rs 2,372.12 crore reported a year back. The company's expenses were lower due to lower fuel and finance costs for the quarter.

Earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and ammortisation or Ebitda were at Rs 1,066 crore for the March quarter.

For the full financial year 2016-2017, the company reported a net profit of Rs 1,104 crore, up 23% and an Ebitda of Rs 4,506 crore for the entire year.

On the operational side, the company reported plant availability of 100% at its Rosa power plant and solar facility in Rajasthan. Availability at Sasan power project was at 86%, Butibori was at 88% and Maharashtra's wind project was at 94%.
