Reliance Power rises 2.52% on BSE

Shares of Anil Ambani-led Reliance Power today jumped 2.52 per cent on the BSE, cheering the company's announcement that it aims to become the country's largest private sector power generating company by 2015.

Within minutes of the announcement, shares of Reliance Power jumped 2.52 per cent to touch an intra-day high of Rs 164.60 per scrip on the Bombay Stock Exchange, while on the National Stock Exchange the stock witnessed a gain of 1.87 per cent to quote at Rs 163.80 per piece.

On the volume front, over 33 lakh shares of the company were traded on the two bourses within the first few hours of the trade.
    
The company at its annual general meeting (AGM) held here said that it will have an operational capacity of 5,000 mega watt (MW) by 2012 and will commission another 20,000 MW over the next three years.
    
Other ADAG group firms too were trading in the positive terrain garnering smart gains in their respective counters.
    
Reliance Infrastructure was trading up 0.63 per cent, Reliance Capital 0.71 per cent, Reliance Natural Resources 1.51 per cent, however defying the trend Reliance Broadcast Network fell 0.43 per cent on the BSE.
    
Meanwhile, the broader market barometer Sensex was trading at 20130.34.
    
Later in the day, two of the Anil Ambani group companies, Reliance Capital and Reliance Communications, will hold their respective AGM's.
