Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) today said that it has commissioned the 103-kilometre long 400 kV double circuit transmission constructed between Limdi (Chorania) and Ranchodpura (Vadavi) districts in Gujarat.

The transmission line is a part of the Rs 1,400-crore and 1,500 kilometres long Western Regional System Strengthening (WRSS) project to be built on build, own and operate (BOO) basis, a press release issued here said.

"The project will facilitate overcoming the grim power situation in western regions as power can smoothly flow from the power rich eastern regions to the western regions. This would also immediately aid in relieving grid congestion presently being experienced in Gujarat," RInfra CEO and Whole Time Director Lalit Jalan said.

In January this year, RInfra's wholly-owned subsidiary company, Reliance Power Transmission (RPTL) had commissioned the first Solapur-Karad transmission line.

"We expect to commission the complete project by the second quarter of FY12," he said.

Currently, RInfra is executing five transmission projects spreading across almost all parts of the country with a total project outlay of over Rs 6,600 crore.
