House of Samsonite is a first-of-its-kind retail concept which will offer the company’s various brands high quality luggage, daily business case, backpacks and other travel accessories.
“The idea is to offer our multiple brands under one roof. Most of these stores will come up in tier II towns. Our first store will start with three brands Samsonite, American Tourister and High Sierra and soon we will add more brands,” said Alok Bishnoi, Director All India Sales, Samsonite South Asia Private Limited at the opening of its first store in Indore.
Upcoming ‘House of Samsonite’ stores will be operated on both franchisee and company operated models. Around Rs 10 crore will be invested in this process, added Bishnoi.
Currently, Samsonite has around 40% market share in Rs 3,500 crore worth organised luggage market in India. In terms of premium luggage and travel accessories segment its holds more than 70% market share in India.
The size of Indian unorganised luggage market is more than Rs 6,000 crore.
Recently, there were reports of Samsonite International acquiring luxury baggage maker Tumi Holdings.
On more acquisitions in future Bishnoi said,“We want to make it a multi-brand company so acquiring more international brands is possible.”
