Samsung India eyes to tap festive market

The company aims to clock 50% growth in revenues during the festive season from east at Rs 400 cr

Samsung India Electronics Pvt Ltd is aiming to clock a revenue of around Rs 400 crore from consumer electronic products division during the festive season from the eastern part of the country during the festive season (September-November) .

Atul Jain, senior vice president consumer electronics division at Samsung India said company was looking to register a 50 per cent growth during the September to November period in the eastern part of the country.

"We are looking at a 50% growth in revenues during the festive season from east at Rs 400 crore. We are looking to sell about 100,000 units of panel TV units in the region," he said here on Wednesday while unveiling company's premium range of products.

The consumer electronics division mainly includes television sets, refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and microwave oven.

Consumer electronics and home appliances division accounts for almost 35 per cent of the total revenue of Samsung in India. It had a overall top line of Rs 27,000 crore during 2012 (Jan-Dec).

"We are looking at growth of about 35 per cent this year," he added.

The firm has so far hiked prices by about 3 per cent on account of a weak rupee.
