With the festive season round the corner, consumer electronics major Sony India is eyeing sales of Rs 140 crores from Gujarat this year, which is 40 per cent higher than what it clocked last year.
The company is armed with a Rs 12 crore marketing investment especially for Gujarat market this festive season, which falls between August till October.
While the earning from the festive season in 2010 was around Rs 100 crores; Sony is targeting to achieve a growth rate of 40 per cent growth over last year in sales from the Gujarat market alone. In keeping with this, the company will be expanding its distribution channels nationally from 525 outlets to 650 in this fiscal year as well.
As Gujarat contributes 10 to 12 percent to the total sales of the company, Sony is going all out to woo the customers with attractive schemes and EMI packages that will make televisions, cameras and laptops accessible to the customers.
Sony is also expecting a surge in sale to spring from the conversion of customers shifting from LED Tv sets to to LCD television sets.
“We are expecting a conversion of about 30 to 40 percent of people shifting to LED television sets in all screen sizes right from 22 inches to 65 inches," said Sunil Nayyar, senior general manager, CAV sales department, AVIT division, Sony.
With 62 models and 156 colour variants under the Sony Vaio series, Sony is eyeing to sell 10,000 units this festive season and is expecting a 100 percent growth over last year's figures. Even in the laptop segment, Gujarat has contributed 8 to 10 percent in the company's total sales figures.
