Rajan Anandan, former MD of Microsoft India, will now lead the business of Google in the country, the search engine giant said today. Anandan has joined Google as vice-president of its India sales and operations.

Anandan replaces Shailesh Rao, who had two roles, that of MD and head of sales for India, and MD, media and platform sales, Japan & Asia-Pacific.

Rao will remain in Gurgaon, Google said, but would focus on his role as the media and platform sales head for Japan and Asia-Pacific.

Anandan, who is an angel investor, has 18 years behind him with key roles at Dell and Mckinsey besides Microsoft, Google said. He holds degrees from Stanford and MIT.
