"Following the success of our existing stories, we will continue our expansion. We have plans to open more stores in Uttarakhand," said P S Mukherjee, zonal manager, after the inauguration of its first store in Dehradun.
Mukherjee said by the end of the current financial year (2013-14), the company would raise its strength to 100 stores across the country. V-Mart would open two more stores in Haridwar and Haldwani this year.
"After getting a very good response from our existing stores across north and west India, we decided to enter in Uttarakhand with our first store in Dehradun. We have plans to create significant presence in the state," said Rajesh Sharma, regional manager Uttar Pradesh (West) and Uttarakhand, of the company.
The company, which opened its first store in Ahmedabad in 2003, is currently operating 72 stores in 61 cities in north and west India, covering 5,88,920 sq ft of retail space. The company claims that it is offering 80,000 products to chose from in the small towns and cities across the country.
The V-Mart stores offer apparels, footwear, accessories, luggage, home wares, toys and games. The new store in Dehradun will also showcase the collections for fulfilling the needs of youth and family, the company officials said.
