Betting big on the Indian market, Internet giant Yahoo! plans to host content in six regional languages, besides Hindi and English, by next year.
"We are looking for partners. By next year, we plan to have content in up to six regional languages," Yahoo! India Managing Director Arun Tadanki said on the sidelines of the India Economic Summit here today.
At present, Yahoo! India has a partnership with publishing house Dainik Jagran for offering content in Hindi.
"We see huge opportunity in regional language content. Our Hindi news traffic had taken over the traffic we see for news in English," he added.
There are about 50 million Internet users in India, which is likely to go up to 240 million in the next five years.
Tadanki said 73 per cent of all Indian Internet users have access to Yahoo!, so regional content is very important to the company.
