British dy high commissioner meets Punjab governor

Says he wants to develop students exchange programmes between the universities of both the countries

The British deputy high commissioner, David Lelliott, with Senior Trade & Investment Adviser Tanisha Thiara on Wednesday met the Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Shivraj V Patil here. Discussing various issues of mutual interest, David Lelliott said he wanted to develop students exchange programmes between the universities of both the countries. Appreciating his proposal, Patil said it would be useful if there were exchange of teachers also, to develop a culture of cooperation to provide better education to students after exchanging experiences and knowledge.

He said besides Punjab University and Lovely Professional University many other Universities were doing good job. He stressed upon expanding research and development in Universities to impart education on modern lines which includes big smart class rooms fully equipped with electronic gadgets. He said it will be of immense mutual benefit if we share educational tools and technologies.

Patil also said that there was a major scope to further expand economic & business cooperation in wide range of fields like Information Technology, marketing of agriculture produce, sharing of educational tools & technologies, solar energy and genetic technology, which can be of immense mutual benefit of people on both sides.
