This is 24% less than the 98 start-ups in the campus recruitment last year. The institute says this is not a major decline, considering the issues in connection with start-ups and the blacklist. It said most of the previous year’s companies are coming again.
The 31 start-ups blacklisted included Zomato, Portea, Cashcare, LeGarde Burnett and Peppertap.
This year, a number of public sector undertakings are participating, new for the institute, it said. Nine have confirmed their participation for 2016-17. Some of these are the navy, Indian Space Research Organisation, Coal India, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and Centre for Development of Telematics.
Companies registered for the first phase will start recruiting from Thursday; it will continue till December 13.
Those registered for the initial phase include Amazon Development Centre India, Axis Bank, American Express, Goldman Sachs, Ernst & Young, Intel Technology India, McKinsey, Microsoft, Rolls-Royce India, The Boston Consulting Group and Uber.
