A Delhi court on Monday refused to hear a plea from Teri Director General R K Pachauri — who is facing sexual harassment allegations from a former woman colleague — to be allowed travel abroad for the Global Water Summit in Greece. The development came after the complainant questioned Pachauri’s plea.

Additional sessions judge Raj Kumar Tripathi gave Pachauri liberty to withdraw his plea and move a fresh application before the metropolitan magistrate with territorial jurisdiction of the case.

Here’s how the sexual harassment controversy unfolded:

Feb 20: A woman employee of Teri lodges an FIR against Pachauri, accusing him of sexual harassment, in New Delhi. The accused receives interim relief against arrest from the Delhi High Court which enables him to approach a lower court for anticipatory bail by February 23

Feb 23: Pachauri, also a member of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s council on climate change, resigns from his position as chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, with immediate effect.

Feb 25: Pachauri is admitted to a Delhi hospital; hearing on Pachauri’s anticipatory bail plea is scheduled for February 26

Feb 26: PM accepts Pachauri’s resignation from the climate change panel

Feb 28: The United Nations rules out an inquiry into allegations against Pachauri and says a new head to replace him will be
elected later this year

Mar 5: Complainant in the case gets a week to hand over evidence

Mar 6: Delhi court extends Pachauri’s anticipatory bail

Mar 21: A Delhi court grants Pachauri anticipatory bail, rejecting the police plea for custody. Pachauri is asked to to furnish a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and a surety of a similar amount

Apr 2: A court asks internal probe panel to quiz Pachauri outside of Teri

Apr 18: Pachauri moves court, seeks permission to travel abroad for attending the Global Water Summit in Greece

Apr 20: A Delhi court refuses to hear Pachauri’s plea to be allowed to travel abroad
