India on Friday reported a net reduction of 2,054 to take its count of active coronavirus cases to 171686, the lowest since June 21 and 83.13 per cent lower than the September 18 peak of 1,017,754. India’s share of global active coronavirus cases has declined to 0.66 per cent (one in 151). The country is 15th among the most affected countries by active cases. India added 18,855 cases to take its total caseload to 10,720,048. And, with 163 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 154,010, or 1.44 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 
With 572,060 more vaccinations across India on Thursday, the total count of those inoculated reached 2,928,053. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 10,394,352 – or 96.96 per cent of total caseload – with 20,746 new cured cases being reported on Friday.
 
  • With a daily increase of 18,855 in total cases, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen from 10,701,193 on Thursday to 10,720,048 – an increase of 0.2%. Death toll has reached 154,010, with 163 fatalities in a day. Now the fifteenth-most-affected country by active cases, fourth by fatality, and second by total and recovered cases, India has added 94,620 cases in the past 7 days.
  • India now accounts for 0.66% of all active cases globally (one in every 152 active cases), and 7.00% of all deaths (one in every 14 deaths).
  • India has so far vaccinated 2,928,053 people. That is 27.31 per cent of its total caseload, and 0.211 per cent of its population.
  • Backwards from here, the last 1 million cases for India have come in 52 days.
  • The count of active cases across India has seen a net reduction of 2,054, compared with 2758 on Thursday. Five states with highest net increase in active cases are Kerala (158), Delhi (74), Goa (31), Ladakh (15), and Chandigarh (12).
  • With 20,746 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate has inched up to 96.96%, while the fatality rate remains unchanged at 1.44%.
  • The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (3.24%), Maharashtra (2.52%), and Gujarat (2.19%). The rate in as many as 13 is higher than the national average.
  • India’s new daily closed cases stand at 20,909 — 163 deaths and 20,746 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 0.78%.
  • India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.1%.
  • India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 393.7 days, and for deaths at 654.6 days.
  • Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Chhattisgarh (6451), Kerala (5771), Maharashtra (2889), Karnataka (550), and Tamil Nadu (503).
  • Among states with more than 25,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Kerala (91.63%), Maharashtra (95.28%), Punjab (95.56%), Gujarat (96.89%), and Uttarakhand (96.89%).
  • India on Thursday conducted 742,306 coronavirus tests to take the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 195,081,079. The test positivity rate recorded was 2.5%.
  • Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases) – are Maharashtra (13.99%), Goa (11.93%), Chandigarh (9.79%), Nagaland (9.71%), and Kerala (9.63%).
  • Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Chhattisgarh (32.14%), Kerala (9.87%), Maharashtra (4.58%), Goa (4.53%), and Chandigarh (2.47%).
  • Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (532605), J&K (339447), Kerala (269302), Karnataka (255577), and Andhra Pradesh (249175).
  • The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (2018413), Karnataka (937933), Kerala (911362), and Andhra Pradesh (887466), and Tamil Nadu (836818).
  • Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 2,889 new cases to take its tally to 2018413. The state has added 25,730 cases in the past 10 days.
  • Karnataka, the second-most-affected state, has reported 550 cases to take its tally to 937933.
  • Kerala, now the third most-affected state by total tally, has added 5771 cases to take its tally to 911362.
  • Andhra Pradesh has added 117 cases to take its tally to 887466.
  • Tamil Nadu has seen its tally going up by 503 to 836818.
  • Delhi has added 199 cases to take its tally to 634524.
  • Uttar Pradesh has added 48 cases to take its tally to 599624.
