Do not mistake our intent for peace as weakness: Nawaz Sharif to India

Dawn news also reports that Pakistan's Military have rejected Indian claim of 'surgical strikes' but says two Pakistani soldiers killed at LoC

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has reacted to India's claim of surgical strikes across the LoC warning that it's intent for a peaceful neigbourhood should not be mistaken as its weakness. 

Quoting Sharif, Radio Pakistan reports that Sharif has strongly condemned unprovoked and naked agression of Indian forces along the Line of Control. Sharif has said that the country is capable of thwarting any evil design to undermine the sovereignity of Pakistan.

Dawn news also reports that at least two Pakistan Army soldiers were killed as Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged fire over the Line of Control. The exchange of fire began at 2:30am, ISPR said, and continued till 8:00am, reports Dawn. 

Earlier, in an interview to Pakistani TV channel SAMAA, the country's defence minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said they are open to using tactical devices - indicating nuclear attack - against India if it feels its safety is threatened. 

Pakistan's Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), however, denied any such surgical strikes conducted by Indian armed forces, and claimed that what had occurred was cross-border firing.

Writing on its official Facebook page, ISPR said: "There has been no surgical strike by India,instead there had been cross border fire initiated and conducted by India which is existential phenomenon. As per rules of engagement same was strongly and befittingly responded by Pakistani troops."

"The notion of surgical strike linked to alleged terrorists bases is an illusion being deliberately generated by Indian to create false effects.This quest by Indian establishment to create media hype by rebranding cross border fire as surgical strike is fabrication of truth. Pakistan has made it clear that if there is a surgical strike on Pakistani soil, same will be strongly responded," added ISPR in its post.
