I am on God's mission: Kejriwal

Addressing the press conference on Wednesday to expose Nitin Gadkari, anti-corruption activist Arvind Kejriwal was at his evangelical best.

He described himself a man on a ‘mission sent by God’. “I have been sent here by God for a mission. I will not stay here a minute longer than required, to complete the mission for which I have come,” he said.

This was in response to Law Minister Salman Khurshid’s remarks about his proposed trip to the minister’s constituency Farrukkabad. Khurshid allegedly told TV channels that Kejriwal could indeed go to his constituency, but he might probably not be able to come back.

Kejriwal dismissed Khurshid’s threat, saying his life was not in the hands of the minister. “It is in God’s hands,” he said, reciting Kabir’s verse: “Ja Ko Rakhe Saiya Maar Sake na koi”.

He then went on to elaborately explain his ‘godly mission’. “Our aim is to tell people that all parties are in collusion and all parties are part of one family and not to be trusted.” He added that people are scared. “We want to prepare them for a change in the system,” he said,

On why he abandoned corruption cases after raising them, like that of Robert Vadra or Nitin Gadkari, Kejriwal said: “Why should we do everything? What will you and others do? We do our bit, and it is for others to go deep into the cases.”
