Citing pressure on the government machinery due to the forthcoming assembly polls, the state agriculture and cooperation department has issued a notification exempting specific cooperative societies from holding due elections till December 31, this year. These specific cooperative societies include those whose elections are conducted by the respective district collector.
The notification issued two days ago by the state government stated that due to Assembly elections scheduled later this year, the entire state administration and other officials at the district levels, were engaged in poll related work. The government has exempted the specific cooperatives whose elections are due before December 31, 2012, or for which the procedure has already started, from holding elections this year.
