Anna Hazare on Saturday made clear he was not in favour of floating a political party or contesting elections. However, he said he would support good candidates in the coming elections. In a conference, Anna Hazare said he was not bothered about the small crowd at the venue of the protest fast at Jantar Mantar.
‘Size doesn’t matter. The andolan is going on in 550 districts, so it is not correct to say the crowd is huge or small," Hazare said. " I will be happy even if five people turn up. Crowds alone do not make a movement."
Anna would join Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Gopal Rai at Jantar Mantar and begin his fast tomorrow.
Team Anna launched their indefinite fast in New Delhi on Wednesday, demanded setting up of a Special Investigation Team to probe corruption charges against 14 Cabinet Ministers.
Hazare accused the government of repeatedly going back on its promises. "The aim is to campaign for a Lokpal Bill. The government is only giving us assurances, but takes no action," he said. He said that people were asking him why he was going on a fast again and again. I would say that the GOvernment was cheating us again and again and that is making us protest. The fist tiome i fasted the joint drafting committee was formed. But it led to nothing. Then in august the fast led to the Government making three promises. These were also not kept and the standing committee made a report.
Finally a weak Lokpal Bill came to Parliament and even that was not passed, he said.
