Dos and Don’t

Set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), JoSAA manages and regulates the joint seat allocation for admissions to 92 institutes for the academic year 2016-17. This includes 22 IITs, ISM, 31 NITs, 20 IIITs and 18 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs).

Nearly 13 lakh students, who took JEE Mains and JEE Advanced this year, have their hoped pined on the seat allocation by JoSAA. Here are some dos and don’t to follow:

No reporting: If a candidate has accepted a seat in IITs/ISM in the previous round, then they do not have to report to any RC again. Similarly, candidates planning to continue with seat in NITs/IITs/Other-GFTIs do not have to report again.

Dual reporting: If a candidate has bagged a seat in the IITs/ISM and it is upgraded to a seat in NITs/IIITs/Other-GFTIs, then he/she must report once again to an RC of NIT+ system and accept the seat as per the reporting schedule of current round. For any other upgrade, the candidate needs to report to a RC again.

RC to report: A candidate who currently has a seat in NITs/IIITs/Other-GFTIs must only report to an RC of NIT+ system for any further service (e.g., withdraw or change of option). Similarly, those who have seats in IITs or ISM must only report to an RC at IITs. Candidate must bring the documents for identity verification along with seat acceptance letter everytime.

Withdrawal of seat: Candidates who want to avail “withdraw” option must fill-in the requisite details, i.e. bank A/c No and cancelled cheque JPG image along with few basic details online. Then generate a withdrawal request letter and carry the same to an RC for final formalities. Withdrawal cannot be processed without reporting at an RC.

Change of option: Candidates who want to change their option (float/slide) of participating in further rounds must report to an RC along with filled-in form - Change of Option for Further Rounds.
