 "Lalit Modi now targets Jaitley")
After External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is the latest Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader to be dragged into controversy by former Indian Premier League (IPL) chief Lalit Modi.
The former IPL chief late on Sunday night levelled allegations against several senior politicians, including Jaitley, on social media platform Twitter. His tweets also targeted some unnamed senior Congress leaders. Naming the finance minister in the Delhi and District Cricket Association scam, Modi demanded that Jaitley make his phone records public.
"Happy to take any punishment. But will not cow down due to political pressure. Will fight it all the way in court." His tweets said "thou the whole country media, courts, CBI, have found #srini #guilty - but @arunjaitley stuck by his oldest friend - and why not after". Another one said: "Congress and Bjp but at heart congress man @arunjaitley only is my target".
Meanwhile Jaitley, who is in the US, said he did not "want to comment" on the controversy raging back home. On Sunday, Jaitley had said Modi's Rs 11-crore transaction with BJP leader and Raje's son Dushyant Singh was a 'commercial' one. "I do not want to comment on him, but it's a commercial transaction between two individuals," Jaitley had said.
